Kate was the first Australian and first woman in history to cycle the breadth of the 'New Russia', a 13,500 kilometre journey from St Petersburg to Vladivostok, unsupported.
The 153 day expedition was completed one day ahead of schedule, before the onset of the severe Russian winter and despite tackling the 1,500km swamp in eastern Siberia, where no vehicles can pass.

BREAKING THE CYCLE across Africa:

A 20,000 km bicycle journey across the breadth of Africa, from Senegal in the west to the Horn of Africa in the east.

The purpose of the project is to learn first-hand about the causes of extreme poverty and through the story of the adventure which unfolds, educate and inspire actions which will assist in making communities more sustainable and resilient to the issues.

The expedition, leaves on October 1st, 2009 and should take approximately 8 months to complete, by averaging about 2500km per month.
